Architectural Joinery for Duplex Units | Straven Road

We turned JTB Architects' complex plans into flawless shop drawings and built the entire fit-out in our Christchurch workshop. By managing a phased installation across both premium units, we kept Lark Developments' schedule on track without a single delay on-site.

The Brief

Gill Joinery was engaged by Lark Developments on the Straven Road project. The two residential units were designed by JTB Architects, whose architectural set informed all joinery design and specification.

Two architecturally resolved residential units requiring joinery that maintained a consistent visual reading across the development while ensuring each unit felt fully finished inside. The brief required flexibility to suit a range of buyers and included provision for an accessibility lift. The architectural set from JTB Architects covered everything from kitchen elevations through to wardrobe layouts and bathroom vanities, and Gill Joinery worked to that standard.

Our Approach

Gill Joinery worked from JTB's architectural drawings into shop drawings, through manufacture in our Bromley workshop, and a phased installation across both units to keep Lark Developments' programme on track.

What We Built

  • Two kitchens: island with waterfall benchtop edge, integrated appliances, overhead push-to-open cabinets with LED strip lighting
  • Two sculleries: prep space, pantry storage, wine fridge provision and second sink
  • Fireplace and lounge built-ins: TV nook joinery flanking the Escea DS1150 gas fireplace
  • Master WIR and guest WIR across both units, plus secondary bedroom robes
  • Built-in study desks in 18mm melamine to match joinery finish
  • Bathroom vanities: master ensuite, first floor bathroom, guest ensuite and ground floor WC
  • Entry cloak, laundry cabinetry and supporting storage throughout
  • Coordination with lift installation

The Outcome

Two homes that read as one from the street and feel fully resolved inside. For Gill Joinery, Straven Road is a clear example of what an architectural-residential joinery partnership looks like: holding the architect's vision, giving the builder a clean install, and leaving the homeowner with cabinetry built to last.
