FAQ
Residential FAQs
Common questions about bespoke joinery solutions for your home.
Choosing to work with Gill Joinery means your project is built to a standard of excellence guaranteed by the prestigious Master Joiner certification. Unlike modular systems, we provide truly bespoke solutions, meaning we can work with any angle, any material, and optimise any awkward space to ensure your joinery fits your home perfectly.
Every project is unique, but typically, a full residential fit-out takes between 8 to 12 weeks from the moment the final design is approved. This allows for your custom joinery to be built in our Christchurch workshop and a seamless installation by our team. We provide a clear timeline at the start of every project so you know exactly what to expect.
Yes we will project manage the entire fit-out process for you. If you are already working with a builder or an architect, we are happy to collaborate closely with them. We can also recommend trusted local tradespeople (plumbers, electricians, stone masons) to ensure the finishing touches meet our standards of excellence.
We do both. If you already have architectural drawings, we can translate those into technical joinery specs. If you are starting with a blank canvas, we can work with you to design a functional, beautiful solution that aligns with your lifestyle and the aesthetic of your home.
As members of the Master Joiners Association, we stand behind the quality of our work. We provide a comprehensive guarantee on our craftsmanship and use only premium hardware that carries its own lifetime or long-term warranties. We specialise in creating heirloom joinery that lasts for decades.
Commercial FAQs
Common questions about custom joinery for your business.
In a commercial environment, joinery has to work harder. Choosing a Master Joiner certified partner ensures your fit-out meets a registered standard of excellence for durability and precision. Unlike mass-produced systems, we provide truly bespoke solutions, allowing us to solve complex spatial challenges with high-performance materials that reflect your brand identity and stand up to heavy daily use.
We understand that every day your doors aren't open is a day of lost revenue. While every project varies, we typically operate on an 8 to 12-week lead time from design approval to installation. We build everything off-site in our Christchurch workshop to ensure a rapid, seamless installation that aligns with your project milestones and minimises on-site disruption.
Yes. We offer end-to-end project management, coordinating closely with lead contractors, architects, and specialist trades. Whether it’s integrating electrical for a retail display or plumbing for a hospitality bar, we manage the technical overlaps to ensure the final fit-out meets our rigorous standards of excellence and all relevant compliance codes.
We are highly experienced in both. We regularly translate complex architectural drawings and brand guidelines into high-precision technical shop drawings for manufacturing. For independent businesses starting from scratch, we can assist in designing functional, high-impact interiors that optimise workflow and enhance the customer experience.
As members of the Master Joiners Association, we stand behind the structural integrity of our work. We use commercial-grade hardware and finishes designed for longevity in high-wear settings. Our specialty is artisanal-quality craftsmanship, precision-engineered to remain the functional and aesthetic heart of your business for years to come.
Absolutely. While we are proud to run manufacturing out of our Christchurch workshop, we have the logistical capability to manage, freight, and install bespoke joinery for franchise locations across all of New Zealand. We specialise in maintaining brand consistency, ensuring that whether a location is in Auckland or Queenstown, the quality of craftsmanship, material finishes, and technical specifications remain true to your national brand standards.
