Custom Kitchen & Pantry Joinery | Coachway
Two rooms, two colourways, one continuous build: Gill Joinery designed and manufactured the kitchen and pantry joinery for this Christchurch home, pairing a bold high-gloss kitchen with a softer woodgrain finish next door so each space does its own job without feeling disconnected from the other.
The Brief
Gill Joinery was engaged to design and manufacture the joinery for the kitchen and adjoining pantry at Coachway. The brief called for a kitchen finish with real visual presence, paired with a pantry that could handle daily working and storage without competing with the showpiece next door.
Two connected spaces meant the joinery needed a shared language, in stone selection, hardware and detailing, even where the cabinetry colours themselves were deliberately different from room to room.
Our Approach
Gill Joinery worked through the stone and cabinetry colour selections early, then carried that specification through into shop drawings and manufacture at our Christchurch workshop. Keeping the hardware and detailing consistent across both rooms was the key to making two different colourways read as one considered scheme rather than two separate jobs.

The Outcome
A kitchen with street presence and a pantry that quietly gets on with the job behind it. For Gill Joinery, Coachway shows how a considered material palette, held together by consistent hardware and detailing, lets two rooms with two very different finishes still feel like they belong to the same home.
